Welcome to the new teacher for Room 20

The new teacher for Room 20 has had a wonderful time last Monday. That day she had a free day to get to know the students and also during math. Her name is Ms. Philippi, she is the new teacher of Room 20. She likes to have a fun day at school. She pretty much kept it the same as Ms. Wooldrige kept it. She doesn’t make it a boring day at school. She makes it a great day at school. This is the best teacher we have had so far this entire school year.

One of the most unique people at Downs

Do you have a student at your school that can do a back flip without using the wall? Well, we do here at Downs. His name is Robert. He can do a double handspring back flip and land it. So if you want to see him in actions come to Downs.

Downs Skaters

Robert, Pedro, and Ernesto are three skaters at Downs. We skate when we have time. We skate on the streets, we skate at school, and we skate everywhere. We skate because we are the best skaters in our school. We like to do stuff like kickflip, hospital flip, heelflip, hardflips, and other tricks. You will never learn the tricks that we know how to do.

Downs Basketball

I just want to let you know how Downs has one of the best basketball teams in Arizona. Some members of the team are Joe, Philip and Conrad. Those are some of the best basketball players we have. Philip made 23 points, Conrad made 16 points, Robert is a thief on the court with 17 steals and 12 points and Joe made 10 points and he has a mean crossover.

Week Two

On the second Wednesday of the second quarter, we worked on elements of photography. We discussed what elements help make a better picture, then went out and gave the cameras a test run. Students took photos then came back to the classroom to analyze their photos. Students analyzed whether or not the photos included: center of visual interest, rule of thirds, framing, repetition, action/emotion and leading lines. Here are some samples of their work.

The teacher rapper

At Downs, there is a teacher that raps. He teaches 8th grade. His name is Mr. James. He just got married in Hawaii. Mr. James decided to be a rapper to express himself especially after his mom past away and dad ended up in prison. After that he decided to be a teacher because there was a teacher in his life that touched his life and he wanted to impact other students like that.

Tagging at Downs

Today at Downs, we're going to show you how people tag at our school They would go to the bathroom or just some building on the walls or something. They would be mostly tagging every day between classes when ever. People would do it for fun, they don't know the consequences. Students will get suspended or expelled if they tag. Just don't tag property because you'll get the consequences.

Jerking at Downs

The Downs jerkers are zay-buzz, I Nerdd & Mr. Bean. Jerking is not natural, but jerking is a habit at schools, bus stops and on the street. We jerk everyday. Why? To see who’s the best at jerkin. If you want to know how [to jerk], come to Downs.

Glenn L Downs Girls Soccer

The Glenn L Downs soccer girls were awesome and we rock, but we came in second place. The good thing is that we know how to lose. We are not sore losers like what happened with Harris. They got mad at us every time we beat them. They threatened people from Cartwright for beating them. Even though we got second place, we tried our hardest and we'll win next year.

Edith, Nallely, Magaly, Sophia

The Downs Boys Soccer Team

Do you like soccer? Well the boys at Downs do. They got first place beating Borman twice, Cartwright 3 times, and Harris 3 times. They beat Borman in the finals 4-3. They beat Borman at home. Even though Borman lost in the finals they are still a good team and got 2nd place. Downs did not get a trophy but they got best team in the district.
